Find A Car in A Huge Parking Space

There is a significant issue when visitors to large airports are looking for their vehicle in huge parking lots, large dealership parking areas, and warehouses. Trying to find a vehicle in a space where thousands of other vehicles are parked can be a hugely frustrating experience, particularly during inclement weather with vehicles potentially covered under thick layers of snow.

While searching for a solution to this issue that could address the challenge while still enabling inventory counts to be carried out, we made a joint venture with an expert RFID company. This company develops and deploys a radio frequency identification system along with our Internet of Things communication technologies, which produces significant benefits for businesses.

Our solution reduces the search for a specific car in a parking space to around a few minutes. Using a combination of drones and beacons with Bluetooth low energy tags, we employ low data communication traffic through SIMs and cloud services.

Additionally, a special application for analytical data generation and graphics indicates where the car is located and for how long it has been parked. Monitoring the location of vehicles within courtyards can be extremely costly in day-to-day operations. Under normal conditions, a vehicle can take something from six to eight hours to be located, even using bar codes or RFID portals at the entrance to the courtyards. There are reports of trucks that have been waiting to be loaded for more than three hours if a specific vehicle cannot be found.

In a large working garage we connected reading portals in the parking lot, yard, workshop, and washing room. When a car passed one of these checkpoints, owners received status information on their smartphones. The beacon is detected inside the car and indicates when it entered the garage. It continues to transmit the location of the vehicle as it moves inside the garage. Finally, when the car leaves the garage, the beacon is retrieved.
